Have a high school diploma or equivalent. Have minimum of three years of experience in plumbing work involving a variety of layout, installation, and maintenance tasks. Hold a current black seal license: Experience with preparing and/or work from sketches, plans, specifications, and roughing-in sheets in accordance with the plumbing code or approved trade practices. Meet such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable. Install, repair, and/or maintain gas, water, and waste disposal pipes and facilities. Troubleshoot malfunctions and makes emergency and permanent repairs. Remove stoppages from piping and toilet, sink, and other facilities. Work with wrought iron, cast iron, butt-welded, soil and copper pipe. Install and repair piping systems using flanged, screwed, bell and spigot compression, and soldered joints. Cover piping and fittings with approved compositions for insulation. Be familiar with the nomenclature, use and installation of reducing, pressure relief, surge check, float, gate, globe and other types of valves, unions, sleeves, bushings, reducers and other fittings and valves. Be responsible for measuring and fitting of piping and facilities. Experience with preventative maintenance systems. Interpret graphic symbols used on piping drawings. Makes plumbing tests on work in progress and completed work. Keep accurate records. Use computers and/or electronic equipment to fulfill job functions. Serve as a role model for students and staff in demonstrating positive attitudes, appropriate attire and grooming, and an effective work ethic. Protect confidentiality of records and information about staff and use discretion when sharing any such information within legal confines. Participate in appropriate in-service and workshop programs and attend any required meetings. Display the highest ethical and professional behavior in working with students, parents, school personnel, and outside agencies associated with the school. Adhere to New Jersey school law, State Board of Education rules and regulations, State and local health agency requirements, Board of Education policies and regulations, school regulations and procedures, and contractual obligations. Perform any duties and responsibilities that are within the scope of employment, as assigned by the supervisor, and not otherwise prohibited by law or regulation. Have basic proficiency of computer skills needed to support responsibilities of position, including but not limited to Email, work orders, spreadsheets, and material ordering information. Provide proof of U.S. citizenship of legal resident alien status by completing Federal Form I-9 in compliance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986. Provide evidence that a criminal record history check has been conducted and clearance has been given by the Department of Education. During the initial six-month period provide a sworn statement that individual has not been convicted of a crime or a disorderly person's offense in accordance with 18A:6-7.1. Provide evidence that health is adequate to fulfill the job functions and responsibilities, with reasonable accommodation pursuant to 42 U.S.C. 12101 and in accordance with N.J.A.C. 6:3-4A-4.
