JOB TITLE: PLUMBER

JOB STATUS: FULL-TIME $35 per hour / 40 hours per week with benefits

LOCATION: MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT

GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB

As a School System Plumber, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing systems within the school facilities. This role involves working on various plumbing components, such as pipes, fixtures, fittings, and water heating systems. The primary objective is to ensure a safe and efficient plumbing infrastructure that supports the smooth operation of the school facilities

Essential Job Function:

Installation and Repair:

* Install, repair, and maintain plumbing systems in accordance with local building codes and regulations.

* Inspect plumbing systems to identify issues and troubleshoot problems.

* Install and repair fixtures, such as sinks, toilets, faucets, and water fountains.

Pipe Maintenance:

* Inspect, repair, and replace pipes as needed.

* Conduct routine maintenance on pipes to prevent leaks and other issues.

* Collaborate with other maintenance staff to ensure the overall functionality of the school's infrastructure.

Emergency Response:

* Respond promptly to plumbing emergencies, such as leaks or clogs, to minimize disruptions to the school activities.

* Provide after-hours support for urgent plumbing issues as needed.

Collaboration:

* Coordinate with other maintenance and custodial staff to address plumbing issues that may affect the overall maintenance of the school.

* Work closely with administrators and staff to schedule repairs and installations with minimal disruption to the educational environment.

Compliance:

* Ensure all plumbing work complies with relevant safety and building codes.

* Keep accurate records of repairs, installations, and maintenance activities.

Equipment Maintenance:

* Maintain and repair plumbing tools and equipment to ensure they are in good working condition.

* Recommend upgrades or replacements for outdated or malfunctioning equipment.

Emergency Response:

* Respond promptly (24/7) to emergency maintenance situations and provide necessary support during unforeseen events or disasters.

* Position does include ACS take home vehicle.

Additional Job Functions:

* Other duties assigned by the Director or Asst. Director.

Qualifications:

Education and Certification:

* High school diploma or equivalent.

* Relevant certification or licensure as a plumber.

Experience:

* Proven experience as a plumber, with a focus on commercial or institutional settings.

* Familiarity with school building systems and structures is an asset.

Skills:

* Strong knowledge of plumbing systems, tools, and equipment.

* Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

* Strong communication skills to interact with school staff and administrators.

Physical Requirements:

* Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in various physical positions.

* Comfort working in confined spaces.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to operate power tools and mechanical equipment. Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently. Physical demand requirements are for Medium Work.

Data Conception: Requires the ability to compare and/or judge the readily observable, functional, structural or composite characteristics (whether similar or divergent from obvious standards) of data, people or things.

Interpersonal Communication: Requires the ability to speak and/or signal people to convey or exchange information. Includes giving instructions, assignments or directions to subordinates or assistants.

Language Ability: Requires the ability to read simple forms. Requires the ability to prepare time sheets and supply requisitions using prescribed format.

Intelligence: Requires the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagrammatic form; to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in or from standardized situations. Also, D.D.C Controls and computer experience.

Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, to follow oral and written instructions. Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently in Standard English.

Numerical Aptitude: Requires the ability to utilize mathematical formulas, to add, subtract, divide and multiply.

Form/Spatial Aptitude: Requires the ability to inspect items for proper length, with and shape.

Motor Coordination: Requires the ability to coordinate hands and eyes rapidly and accurately in using tools.

Manual Dexterity: Requires the ability to handle a variety of items such as maintenance equipment. Must have minimal levels of eye/hand/foot coordination.

Color Discrimination: Requires the ability to differentiate between colors or shades of color.

Interpersonal Temperament: Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under average levels of stress.
