**Job Title:** Plumber

**Job Summary:** The Plumber installs, maintains, and repairs pipes and fixtures associated with heating, cooling, water distribution, and sanitation systems in commercial structures. Inspects drainage and other plumbing systems for compliance with local and national regulations.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities:**

+ Interprets blueprints and building specifications to map layout for pipes, drainage systems, and other plumbing materials

+ Installs pipes and fixtures, such as sinks and toilets, for water, gas, steam, air, or other liquids

+ Installs supports for pipes, equipment, and fixtures prior to installation

+ Collaborates with contractors, construction workers, electricians, pipefitters, and steamfitters in installing and repairing plumbing

+ Tests plumbing systems for leaks and other problems

+ Analyses problem and identifies appropriate tools and materials for repair

+ Chooses plumbing materials based on budget, location, and intended uses of building

+ Follows health and safety standards and complies with building codes

+ Writes report documenting the problem and summary of actions taken

+ Performs inspections of plumbing systems to identify and replace worn parts

+ Prepares bids and schedules and oversees other workers, such as apprentices and helpers

+ Tests plumbing systems for leaks and other problems

+ Assist all trades to perform preventive maintenance and repairs

+ Other duties may be assigned as deemed necessary by the Site Manager

**Qualifications:**

+ Prefer Plumbing Certification or License and 2 yr. Degree from Technical School or Accredited Institution; or equivalent combination of training, education, and experience.

+ Five to seven years plumbing experience

+ Plumbing Certification or License, Valid driver's license, Fork truck operator's license, JLG operator's license

+ Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions operating and maintenance instructions, and memos. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one -on-one and small group situations of customers, clients and other employees of the organization

**Physical Demands:**

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Will be required to use ladders, boom lifts, scissor lifts, fork trucks and other equipment to accomplish the job.

**Work Environment:**

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; and extreme heat. The associate is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The associate is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
