TITLE: Plumber DEPARTMENT: Facilities PAY RANGE 21 : $23.47 to $24.57 (based on experience and education) SCHEDULE: 8 hours daily / 260 days yearly 7:00am-3:30pm REPOR TS TO: Assistant Director of Facilities Fully Benefited: Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, long-term disability, vacation days, sick days, personal days and paid holidays, Summary: Performs a variety of journey-level plumbing work in the installation, maintenance and repair of plumbing systems and equipment. Journeyman's license preferred; Maintain Valid Driver's License. This position requires the employee to drive corporation vehicles. In accordance with Board policy and individual must be at least twenty-one (21) years old and have held a drivers license for at least three (3) years. Qualifications: Experienced in journey-level plumbing work in the installation, maintenance and repair of plumbing systems and equipment. Journeyman's license preferred. Applicants must have exceptional oral communication skills (listening, questioning, clarifying and responsiveness) Applicants must write clearly and informatively, able to read and interpret written information. Applicants must possess the ability to work in a team environment and create positive, cooperative, and professional relationships. Valid Driver's License required - this positions requires the use of district vehicles and candidates must meet the requirements to drive those vehicles (21 years old and a good driving record) General knowledge of computers including email, word processing and work order software. Responsibilities: Perform journey-level plumbing in the installation, repair and maintenance of a wide variety of plumbing fixtures and equipment, such as valves, control devices, pumps, boilers, toilets, faucets, water and sewer lines and gas and air lines. Replace defective parts in plumbing fixtures and systems and repair existing systems; repair or replace sewer lines. Rebuild and replace toilet valves, faucets and plumbing valves. Determine problems with water systems; repair valves, faucets and toilets and assist in ordering replacement parts as necessary; repair or replace drinking fountains or related parts. Install rough plumbing; set fixtures, move vents and rough plumbing and reinstall fixtures. Perform soldering and welding repair work. Review plumbing plans and specifications for conformity to codes, regulations and safety orders. Estimate materials and labor needed; maintain records related to work performed; order plumbing supplies and materials according to established procedures. Communicate with administrators, other skilled maintenance personnel concerning plumbing issues and information. Operate a variety of maintenance and plumbing tools and power equipment such as pipe threading equipment, power snake, power drill, saws, grinder, air compressor and jack hammer, and other hand and power tools. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to thirty (30) or more pounds. Occasionally the employee must lift and/or move up to fifty (50) or more pounds. Assist in installing, repairing and maintaining heating systems and controls; repair and maintain boilers. The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the corporation. Other related duties as may, from time to time, be assigned by the supervisor. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This job has no supervisory responsibilities. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
