PLUMBING APPRENTICECLOSING DATE: Open until filledPAY RATE: $13.54 - $18.93SCHEDULE: Part-time, 20-25 hours a week, Monday-Thursday typically between 9-5 (occasionally on some weekends or after hours)DEPARTMENT: Facilities DivisionJOB SUMMARYAssist experienced plumbers in installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing systems.Follow directions and gather supplies for each job.Ensure job sites, trucks, and tools are clean and organized.Perform basic math calculations to measure materials and estimate project costs.Help select tools and equipment needed for each job.Provide labor and support to plumbers, adhering to plumbing codes.Test plumbing systems for leaks and ensure compliance with blueprints and schematics.Work alongside other tradespeople to complete a variety of projects efficiently including painting, cleaning, electrical, HVAC, etc.Assists in general facilities and remodeling projects; redesigns office space moving or installing walls and partitions; installs doors, windows, permanent and temporary ceilings, stages, handicap ramps, portable walls, etc.Maintain punctuality and demonstrate a strong work ethic.This position may help qualify for an apprenticeship through an accredited trade schoolREQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONSMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Must have a valid driver license; all applicants will be required to pass a drug test and background check; applicants need to be able to take direction and have a willing and able attitude; must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Must pass a BCI background check.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Previous experience in facility maintenance/general maintenance is preferred. Ability to carry out the maintenance programs; establish and follow through on work priorities; communicate effectively, verbally and in writing; develop effective working relationships with subordinates, supervisor, fellow employees and the public.
