Job Description:
Plumbing Estimator Bayonet Plumbing, Heating, and Air Conditioning, a division of IES, is looking for a well-qualified, team player to join our Plumbing Estimating Department. This individual will be responsible for evaluating bid specifications and analyzing construction plans, proposals, material estimates, and other documentation to successfully bid on new construction plumbing projects. Responsibilities:
  • Prepare estimates for Residential/Commercial Plumbing
  • Utilize Excel-based estimating software to prepare bids efficiently
  • Assist with preparing project-specific proposal documents
  • Communicate the scope of work and budgets to Branch Managers, Coordination Staff and Estimating Staff
  • Analyze existing site conditions and all contract documents to determine the required scope that is not already indicated
  • Develop working relationships with local material suppliers and equipment vendors to solicit accurate and current pricing of plumbing fixtures, piping, and miscellaneous material pricing
  • Responsible for working closely with other departments to ensure the proper transfer of proposals, plans, change orders, and required documents
  • Prepare diagrams or schematics for builder permit packages as needed
  • Coordinate with other estimating staff to complete department duties
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with an emphasis on Excel
  • Proficiency at reading and interpreting information from blueprints and change orders
  • Ability to design and produce project material takeoff
  • Preliminary design work will be necessary to complete estimates; proficiency at plumbing design is required
  • Proficiency at interpreting purchase orders
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Self-motivated and punctual
  • Ability to coordinate several projects at once
  • Excellent follow-up skills, both internally and externally
  • 2+ Years of previous plumbing experience is highly desired
