Job Summary

The Plumbing Superintendent is responsible for managing and overseeing all on-site activities related to plumbing installations on commercial construction projects. This role involves coordinating plumbing crews, managing schedules, ensuring quality work, and ensuring that all plumbing installations are compliant with local codes and standards. The Plumbing Superintendent will play a key role in ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  • On-Site Supervision:
  • Lead, supervise, and coordinate the activities of the plumbing crew on-site, ensuring work is performed in a timely and quality manner.
  • Project Coordination:
  • Work closely with the Project Manager and other trades to develop and maintain schedules, ensuring all plumbing work integrates smoothly with other construction activities.
  • Quality Control:
  • Conduct inspections of all plumbing installations to ensure compliance with project plans, codes, and standards. Address any issues related to quality and craftsmanship.
  • Crew Management:
  • Direct and supervise plumbers, apprentices, and laborers. Delegate tasks, monitor performance, and ensure all team members are following safety and quality protocols.
  • Material Management:
  • Oversee the delivery and inventory of plumbing materials, tools, and equipment. Ensure all necessary resources are available to maintain efficient workflow.
  • Safety Management:
  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture on the job site. Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and company safety policies. Conduct regular safety meetings and inspections.
  • Problem-Solving:
  • Identify, address, and resolve plumbing-related issues that arise during the construction process. Coordinate solutions with the project team to maintain project momentum.
  • Documentation & Reporting:
  • Maintain detailed daily logs of site activities, including work completed, any incidents, and materials used. Report progress to the Project Manager and provide updates as needed.
  • Client & Stakeholder Interaction:
  • Act as the main point of contact on-site for plumbing-related inquiries from clients, inspectors, and other project stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical or vocational training in plumbing is preferred.
  • Experience:
  • 7+ years of experience in commercial plumbing, including at least 2 years in a superintendent role.
  • Proven experience with managing plumbing installations for large-scale commercial projects.
  • Skills & Abilities:
  • Strong understanding of commercial plumbing systems, including codes, standards, and installation techniques.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage crews effectively.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and shop drawings.
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills.
