The Production Supervisor is responsible for managing all production, safety, quality and maintenance activities within the department during his/her shift.
Receives written and oral work instructions from Superintendent and communicates instructions to employees in his/her work areaAssigns duties and instructs other employees on work and safety proceduresAssists Superintendent in the development of a maintenance list for scheduled maintenance daysResponsible for achieving targets established for safety, turnover, production, manhours, and qualityProvides feedback to employees regarding performance in safety, turnover, production, manhours, and quality, including disciplinary action if requiredConducts a daily inspection of the department to ensure compliance with established operating proceduresCompletes daily production reports, manhours reports, timesheets, and other assigned paperwork; ensures all paperwork is neat and accurate and turned in a timely mannerEnsures that all operators on shift follow equipment setup procedures and safe operation of equipmentConducts new employee orientations and progress reports, and monthly safety training with employeesTroubleshoots and identifies causes of any machine downtime problems within the departmentConsults with Department Superintendent on major machine center problems and recommends solutions to improve efficiency and limit future downtimeAssists Maintenance Department with completion of repairs per PM scheduleCan perform or learn to perform all positions within the departmentPerforms on-the-job training for employees; facilitates cross-training of employeesParticipates in investigations of near-misses, first aids and accidents of employees
