  • On a rotating shift basis, processes warrants, verifies data for requesting and prepares supplements to warrants;
  • Contacts police departments, local and out-of-state, concerning outstanding warrants;
  • Responds to front desk inquires by retrieving case records, etc., in an expeditious manner;
  • Maintains security and safety of station and property or evidence received;
  • Maintains record of runaways, juvenile detention papers, and escape warrants from mental institutions;
  • Responds to telephone callers and walk-in clients at the police station;
  • Responds to Teletype messages from Public Safety Communications Center concerning complaints or incidents;
  • Distributes incoming correspondence to appropriate personnel;
  • Accesses, queries, and updates various automated information systems to obtain necessary data requested by law enforcement personnel;
  • Composes and completes routine correspondence, special reports and documents, including search warrants and affidavits.

Employment Standards MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of education, experience and training equivalent to graduation from high school or possession of a GED issued by a state department of education; plus, two years of experience performing clerical and/or police communications work, including one year of experience equivalent to .PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience working a law enforcement setting.
  • Experience in the use of Microsoft Office computer software, especially Word and Outlook.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
  • Driver's license (required)
  • VCIN -VA Criminal Information Network- Required within 12 months and recertify every 24 months
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check, credit check, driving record check and polygraph exam to the satisfaction of the employer. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Ability to use computer keyboard and to sit for long periods. However, employee may be required to do some walking, standing, bending, and carrying of items under 5 lbs. in weight. Work is generally sedentary.
