Notice Civil Service Examination POLICE OFFICER

The Borough of Coraopolis hereby gives notice of its intent to conduct a competitive Civil Service examination for the position of a fulltime Police Officer. This examination is for the purpose of establishing an eligibility list from which all hiring for the position of Police Officer is made. The eligibility list will be valid for one year. Applicants must meet the following qualifications:

Must be a citizen of the United States of America as of application due date, evidenced by Birth Certificate, U.S. Passport, or Naturalization Papers

Minimum age requirement, twenty-one (21) years

Act 120 certification, or a graduate of a certified police academy. In addition, the applicant must have passed the MPOETC Certification exam and said certification must be current at the time of employment.

High school graduate or GED

Applicant must possess a valid driver's license.

Successful candidates will be required to pass a physical and psychological examination, drug and alcohol screening, physical agility test, and background screening.

Copies of requirements 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 must be submitted with application.

Applications are available at the Coraopolis Police Department, 1301 Fourth Avenue,

Coraopolis, PA 15108, from Friday, September 13, 2024, through Friday, September 27, 2024. All applications will be picked up and returned in person to the Coraopolis Police Department. Completed applications must be returned by 5:00 p.m. Friday, September 27, 2024. There will be no mail-ins accepted. A non-refundable $25.00 applicant fee is required at the time the application is submitted. All checks are to be made payable to the Borough of Coraopolis. The written test will be administered at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday October 3, 2024 at a location to be determined.
