- Respond to calls for service; handles citizen complaints, problem solving, making custodial arrests, and issuing summons
- Knowledge of state law and local ordinance
- Ability to drive and operate emergency vehicles
- Ability to handle volatile persons, defend self and others, and testify
- Investigate reports of crime, interview victims, suspects and others involved, collect evidence, package cases for prosecution
- Completes paperwork, reports and case management, and training
- Patrol city streets, neighborhoods, businesses, parks, and conduct traffic enforcement and issue citations
- Knowledge of city geography
- Perform other duties as assigned

- Dental: Mutual of Omaha - In 2024, the City pays 100% of premium for all tiers of dental coverage.
- Life insurance: Mutual of Omaha -The City provides $15,000 of life insurance coverage for employees. Additional coverage may be purchased if you choose to do so.
- Short-Term Disability: Mutual of Omaha - The City offers pays the premium for this coverage which provides for up to 66.67% of your normal weekly pay, up to $400 for up to 12 weeks and is payable on the 8th day of disability.
