Lateral candidate pay is commensurate with experience, along with increased PTO accruals and an accelerated FTO process.   • Respond to calls for service; handles citizen complaints, problem solving, making custodial arrests, and issuing summons
  • Knowledge of state law and local ordinance
  • Ability to drive and operate emergency vehicles
  • Ability to handle volatile persons, defend self and others, and testify
  • Investigate reports of crime, interview victims, suspects and others involved, collect evidence, package cases for prosecution
  • Completes paperwork, reports and case management, and training
  • Patrol city streets, neighborhoods, businesses, parks, and conduct traffic enforcement and issue citations
  • Knowledge of city geography
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum qualifications To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the formal education, experience and training required.Education
  • Associate degree in law enforcement/ criminal justice
Experience
  • One (1) year experience in law enforcement
Trainings, Certificates, and Licenses
  • Minnesota Police Officers license
  • Valid Driver's License with a driving record that is acceptable to the City's insurance carrier
  • Compliant with Minnesota POST training standards
  • Compliant with Minnesota POST conduct regulations and rules

  • Bachelor's degree in law enforcement/criminal justice

  • Two (2) years law enforcement field experience

The City of Oakdale offers a comprehensive benefits package to full-time employees including health care, dental, vision, retirement, deferred compensation plans, flexible spending accounts, life insurance, short and long-term disability, holidays, and paid-time off.Part-time employees who are employed on a schedule of more than twenty hours per week receive benefits on a pro-rated basis.
  • Medical: Medica (three plan options) - The City pays 100% of the premiums for single coverage and up to 80% of family coverage (depending on the plan you select), as well as H.S.A. contributions in accordance with City policy.
  • Dental: Mutual of Omaha - In 2024, the City pays 100% of premium for all tiers of dental coverage.
  • Life insurance: Mutual of Omaha -The City provides $15,000 of life insurance coverage for employees. Additional coverage may be purchased if you choose to do so.
  • Short-Term Disability: Mutual of Omaha - The City offers pays the premium for this coverage which provides for up to 66.67% of your normal weekly pay, up to $400 for up to 12 weeks and is payable on the 8th day of disability.
  • Long-Term Disability: Mutual of Omaha - The City offers pays the premium for this coverage which provides for up to 60% of your normal monthly pay, up to $3,000 per month and starts on the 90th day of disability.
  • Additional benefits: including voluntary vision, accident, hospital indemnity, Flexible and Dependent Care Spending Accounts, 457 Deferred Compensation, and others are also available.
