- Operates a patrol vehicle or walks on an assigned shift; observes for violations of traffic laws, suspicious activities or persons, and disturbances of law and order.
- Responds to a variety of emergency and non-emergency dispatched calls for service; makes arrests; completes arrest records and testifies in court; writes clear, concise reports in order to ensure legal procedures are followed; ensures court testimony is complete and accurate and evidence is collected and maintained with exact details.
- Prepares a variety of reports and records including, search warrants, detention reports, death scene investigative reports, accident reports, traffic and criminal citations, reports of investigations, and other mandated reports, per policy.
- Conducts primary and follow up investigation for criminal cases; develops leads and tips to investigate and solve crimes; conducts searches; collects and examines records and evidence; prepares and executes warrants and subpoenas.
- Completes various required and supplemental training.
- Participates in and creates community-orientated engagement events and presentations including education on crime prevention, safety, provision of general information, response to general complaints, etc.
- Operates and performs basic maintenance of all issued equipment to include vehicles, weapons, medical equipment, and essential electronic devices.
- Assists in collateral duties such as administrative, special response team, special operations, narcotics, K-9, investigations, animal control, school resource officer, evidence room custodian, or other duties as requested.
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications
- POST Board licensed or eligible to be licensed by January 2025
- Associate's degree.
- Successful completion of a medical examination, drug test, psychological evaluation and background check
- Valid Driver's license
