As a Police Officer, you will play a crucial role in safeguarding our community by preventing crime, enforcing laws, and providing public safety services.Key Responsibilities:
- Patrol and Community Engagement: Patrol assigned areas to deter crime, respond to calls for service, and interact with the public to build trust and rapport.
- Crime Investigation: Conduct thorough investigations of criminal activities, collect evidence, and prepare detailed reports.
- Law Enforcement: Enforce federal, state, and local laws, including issuing citations, making arrests, and testifying in court.
- Public Service: Assist citizens in need, respond to emergencies, and provide community education on crime prevention and safety.
- Crisis Intervention: Handle crisis situations with empathy and professionalism, de-escalating conflicts and providing support to those in distress.

- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Must pass a comprehensive background investigation.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Police Academy graduate or Missouri Peace Officer Certification (POST) required.
- Valid drivers license required.
- Two years of related experience desired.
- Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice or a related field desired.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities May be representative, but not all-inclusive, of those knowledge, skills, and abilities commonly associated with this position.
- Maintain continuing education hours annually as required by the Missouri POST Commission.
- Knowledge of the layout of the City.
- Proficiency in the use of basic business software (word processing, spreadsheets, email, presentations) and essential office equipment.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing effectively and to de-escalate tense situations as they arise.
- Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work and concentrate on multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to use good judgment and think quickly in difficult or stressful situations.
- Ability to identify potential liabilities and minimize negative exposure.
- Regular attendance is a necessary and essential job duty.
