Salary: $29.07 HourlyLocation : Lodi, WIJob Type: Full-TimeJob Number: 2024-4Department: Police DepartmentOpening Date: 11/15/2024Closing Date: 12/9/2024 12:00 PM CentralGeneral Statement of Job The City of Lodi, WI, is seeking a uniformed police officer to provide services of police and traffic control and enforcement, accident investigation, crime prevention and investigation to serve the community citizens.Lodi Police Officers have the opportunity to work UW Badger football games, county drug task force and emergency response assignments as well as many community events.At the City's sole discretion, a lateral entry officer may be eligible for a higher wage commensurate with the Officer's prior full-time experience, not to exceed the current wage schedule. Applicants are required to attach a cover letter, resume, and a completed copy of the Wisconsin (DJ-LE-330) (including answers to all questions in section 6) to the online application.Duties & Responsibilities This is a position in which a person functions as a uniformed police officer providing services that include, but not limited to, police patrol, traffic control and enforcement, accident investigation, crime prevention and investigation, response to citizen complaints and calls for assistance.
- Performs normal police duties to include but not limited to foot patrol, vehicle patrol, traffic control, traffic direction, traffic enforcement, accident investigation, local ordinance and State Statute enforcement, criminal investigations, and responding to calls for service.
- In the absence of the Chief of Police or designee, the senior Police Officer on duty is the officer in charge.
- Performs all duties assigned including department meetings, continuing education, and in-service training.
- Serves under the direction of the Chief of Police or designee.
- Receives policy guidance from the Chief of Police or designee.
Acceptable Experience & Qualifications
- High School diploma or General Equivalent Diploma (GED) is required.
- Prior police experience desired.
- Associate Degree or sixty college credits upon hire or ability to obtain within five years.
- Educational background in police science or criminal justice preferred.
- Knowledge of criminal law, local law, and civil rights.
- Certification or capacity to meet certification requirements established for police officers under Sec. 165.85(4) of Wisconsin State Statutes.
- Certifications in Firearms, Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (EVOC), and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
- Possess a current driver's license and be eligible for a Wisconsin driver's license.
- No felony convictions unless pardoned.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED: Tools and equipment used by the Police Officer includes but is not limited to police vehicle, radios and related communication equipment, radar gun, breathalyzer, electronic calculators, computers and software, firearms, Conducted Energy Weapons, intoxilyzer, Preliminary Breath Tester (PBT), cameras.
