Location: New York City and Washington, D.C.The Legal Defense Fund (LDF) is currently accepting applications from law students for Fall 2024, Spring 2025, and Summer 2025. Policy Internships for the New York and Washington D.C. offices. Interns will be responsible for policy research and analysis, memorandum writing, factual investigation, development of educational and outreach materials, and a host of other needs that arise in LDF's policy efforts in the areas of Education, Political Participation, Economic Justice and Criminal Justice. Policy interns will also be exposed to a variety of activities within the national civil rights coalition, including for some terms a series of brown bag luncheons featuring prominent civil rights and public interest attorneys, attended by interns from numerous non-profit legal organizations.Applicants must be able to receive academic credit or funding from their law school's public interest programs. Although LDF prefers to hire second and third-year law students, we will consider exceptional first-year law students. Fall and spring interns are expected to work at least 20 hours a week, and summer interns are expected to work full-time for at least ten (10) weeks during the summer; but other arrangements may be accommodated on a case-by-case basis.To Apply: Applicants should upload a cover letter, resume, 5-10-page writing sample, and a list of three references, in .pdf format.
