PAY: $9.50/HRSummaryThe City of Amarillo Parks and Recreation Department is preparing for Summer 2025 and is seeking enthusiastic lifeguards for a rewarding summer job! If you love the summer season and enjoy working outdoors, this position is perfect for you. Our ideal cashier will work 20-30 hours per week, follow customer service standards, respond effectively to customers, maintain cleanliness of admissions, concessions, and be responsible for cash handling procedures.
Essential Responsibilities- Provide professional, friendly customer service to the public at city pools.
- Greet customers, answer questions, answer phone calls, take messages, and enforce access policies.
- Provide accurate and relevant information while adhering to city policies.
- Process day-to-day cash transactions accurately and efficiently.
- Complete daily cash reports with minimal errors.
- Operate the food concession stand, maintaining accurate inventory each day.
- Follow all Health Department food handling regulations.
- Operate the PA system according to policy.
- Learn and enforce all rules and procedures applicable to patrons and programs.
- Assist with cleaning tasks to maintain a professional and welcoming environment.
- Report to the Full-Time Pool Manager (schedules are completed by the Seasonal Pool Manager).
- Perform other duties as assigned by management or the Aquatic Supervisor.
- Obtain or provide proof of current First Aid/CPR and Food Handler's certifications (training will be provided if not currently certified).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Previous cashier experience is preferred, but training will be provided for the right candidate.
- Ability to perform simple math operations accurately when handling money.
- Strong customer service skills and a friendly, approachable attitude.
- Ability to obtain First Aid/CPR and Food Handler's certifications (training costs are covered by the City).
Work Environment- Work is conducted both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
- The environment is dynamic, requiring flexibility and responsiveness to changing goals and needs.
- Minimum Requirements
- Must be at least 15 years of age.
- Availability to work from mid-May to late August.
- Vacations or leaves of absence require prior approval and shift coverage.
- Willingness to work at any of the City of Amarillo Swimming Pools.
