Pool Title POOL - English Instructor, Writing Center Instructional Support (Part-time) Pool Number F63-18 Announcement Summary
This is a continuous recruitment pool not specifically advertised.
The pool is continuous in order to develop a qualified pool of interested candidates.
We invite applications to be submitted for potential openings.
Qualified candidates will possess excellent computer skills, demonstrate evidence of a career that includes flexibility and willingness to change; open-mindedness, fairness and the ability to see multiple perspectives; a willingness to take risks, and willingness to accept responsibility for professional and personal growth.
Duties
Provide one-on-one, individualized tutoring.
Teach students to implement writing concepts discussed in class.
Cultivate the skills students need to create effective documents in multiple disciplines.
Increase the confidence of student writers.
Cultivate critical thinking.
Cultivate academic writing independence.
Create an open environment where students can find answers to their writing questions.
Coordinate with English faculty to design curriculum, coordinate class workshops, and build Writing Center/English classroom Learning Communities.
Coordinate with Student Learning Center Director and staff.
Work Schedule: Twenty four-hours weekly, M-F
Minimum Qualifications
Master's Degree in the subject area (or) a Master's Degree with 18 graduate hours in the subject area. Strong skills in English Grammar and Composition. Ability to work well with diverse student and faculty populations in a variety of disciplines.
Communication, both oral and written, skills necessary. Must have expert efficiency in Microsoft Office (Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).
Preferred Qualifications
Writing Center experience and tutor credential or tutor course work preferred.
