Position Summary

Under general supervision of department chair, a person in this position is responsible for teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses. In addition to preparing for and holding classes [face-to-face, hybrid, and/or online], teaching involves maintaining currency in the content area related to the teaching assignment, evaluating students' work, assessing student outcomes, maintaining appropriate records, and holding office hours. In addition, workload may involve advising students and/or providing other service to the department. Other duties may be assigned by the chair or dean.

This position works under the direction of the primary course instructor and provides support to the primary course instructor by administering student skill competency examinations, providing small group instruction during laboratory sessions, and supervising students to ensure safety and quality work during patient laboratories. Position also includes occasional guest lecturing on topics of expertise and may include grading selected assignments. Position requires excellent communication skills, accurate demonstration of therapeutic techniques/methods, ability to reinforce lecture concepts with students individually and in small groups, evaluation of student performance, and ability to give students constructive feedback.

Required Qualifications

Master's Degree [except in rare circumstances where post-baccalaureate certification or licensure or a baccalaureate plus experience can be established as appropriate qualifications for the teaching position].

Certification/licensure as appropriate for program.

Professional clinical experience as appropriate for program.

Preferred Qualifications

Specialty certification/Board certification.

Didactic/clinical teaching experience.

Experience working with students.

Communication skills.
