Summary
Responsible for supervising and directing all activities relative to the operations of indoor or outdoor municipal swimming pools and/or water parks.
Essential Functions and Other Important Duties
Essential Functions:
* Supervises and directs all activities relative to municipal swimming pools or water park; serves as lead person for the lifeguard staff
* Supervises Assistant Pool Manager staff
* Responsible for inventory of their assigned facility
* Keeps all attendance records, facility reports, and emergency reports for assigned facility.
* Schedules staff for regular shifts and after-hours rentals and events
* Oversees the maintenance and cleaning of the pool and surrounding area and equipment
* Serves as a lifeguard on a relief basis as necessary
* Monitors and reduces facility operating costs related to staffing
* Coordinate and conduct staff orientation and training in proper safety, rule enforcement, and life guarding skills
* Monitor pool water chemistry in accordance with approved regulations
* Coordinate and conduct American Red Cross Lifeguard certification classes
* Responsible for addressing customer concerns related to aquatic facilities
* Administers first aid to guests, employees, co-workers, and supervisors
* Responsible for all daily operation logs for your facility
* Responsible for cleaning the pool and surrounding areas and facilities
* Responsible for coordinating the spring cleaning schedule with the maintenance staff, Center Manager, and Lifeguard staff
* Maintains regular and punctual on-site attendance

Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications / Acceptable Equivalency:
* Minimum two seasons experience as a lifeguard and proven ability to perform supervisory functions
* Applicant must be in good standing with the American Red Cross and have current lifeguard instructor certification (LGI)
* Considerable skill in the operation and maintenance of pool equipment
* Prior experience managing a pool or assisting with managing a pool
* Basic knowledge in pool water chemistry
* Pass the City Health Department pool operator course
* All applicants must pass a water skills test before being considered for employment

* Any combination of related education, experience, certifications and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job

* Ability to observe City policies and procedures
Preferences:
* Bilingual in Spanish and English
* Supervisory experience
Conditions of Employment:
* Must have a valid Class C Driver's License and valid state required minimum automobile liability insurance prior to employment (must obtain Texas Class C driver's license and state required minimum automobile liability insurance within 90 days of hire per state law)
* Must pass a drug test, driver's license check, criminal history background check and social security number verification check
* Must pass a physical examination
* Must be at least 17 years or older and be able to work on a rotating schedule seven (7) days (up to 40 hours) per week
Must be available to be scheduled for a minimum of 30 hours per week beginning May 13th - Labor Day

Machines, Tools, Equipment and Work Aids:
The essential functions of this position require the use of rescue tubes, backboard, shepherd's crook, whistle, hip pack, resuscitation mask and other first aid supplies, sun block, pool chemicals and testing kits, pool cleaning supplies.
Environmental Factors:
The essential functions of this position are performed in chlorinated water either in a natatorium or at outdoor aquatic facilities in 90-105 degree heat . Potential exists for lifting up to 50 pounds to remove rescued individuals from pool.
