Pool Title POOL - Notetaker (Part-time) Pool Number S13-18 Announcement Summary
This is a continuous recruitment pool not specifically advertised.
The pool is continuous in order to develop a qualified pool of interested candidates.
We invite applications to be submitted for potential openings.
Responsibilities include taking notes for students enrolled in curriculum classes at Fayetteville Technical Community College. Possess the ability to write clear and detailed notes which include the main idea and supporting facts that provide a thorough understanding of classroom lecture for each classroom session. Other duties may include reviewing the notes with the student to ensure that he/she understands the material covered in class.
Duties
* Arrive 5 minutes before the beginning of class. This will allow the student time to ask questions if needed.
* DO NOT leave class early. This will ensure that all lecture notes provided by the instructor are accurately recorded for the student.
* To be an effective note taker, please organize your notes by:
* Number and date each page
* Underline or mark important words and information
* Use an outline when possible which gives organization to class
* Include diagrams and illustrations with labels
* Indicate if information is from classroom discussion or lecture
* Use stars, circles or boxes around assignments, test dates, etc.
* Skip lines between topics to allow room for any additional information
* Include synonyms for difficult terms
* Check for correct spelling of technical terms, names, etc.
* Take the lead and ask the student if you can improve notes.
* Be sure to include all information from lecture.
* You are required to attend class, even if the student will not attend.
* If your student misses two (2) consecutive days, you are required to notify the Special Populations office.
* On test dates, if read aloud is required and the student tests during the normal scheduled class time, the note taker is required to be present in the lab.
Only the test questions and choices are to be read to the student. Please do not give students clues or answers. Cheating is not acceptable and will not be tolerated.
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
Preferred Qualifications
In addition to minimum qualifications, experience in a postsecondary environment preferred.
