Position: Pool Supervisor or LifeguardReports To: Director of Sports FacilitiesEmployment Status: Part Time - Days and Hours as NeededDescription: Part time position with flexible hours. Position maintains safety and security of the pool and its patrons at all timesNOTE: The below lists arenot ranked in order of importanceEssential Functions:Maintain safety and security of the pool and its patrons at all timesRules are explained and enforced in a courteous, professional, and firm mannerMaintain effective, positive relationships with members, participants and other staffKnows/reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately. Completes corresponding paperwork as neededRemains alert while sitting, standing, or walkingBe prepared to enter the water at any time while on dutyCreates a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes swimmer safety and engagement in accordance with policies and proceduresAssists with pool configuration changes and event transitionsAbility to work with a diverse population including childrenComfort in and around the waterPerform other duties and tasks as assignedOther Duties and Responsibilities:Serve as a role model for studentsPerform other duties as assigned by SupervisorRespond to routine questions and requests in an appropriate mannerQualifications:Must be 15 years of age or olderMust have current lifeguarding certification such as American Red Cross, YMCa, Ellis & Associates or any other course recognized by the Ohio Administrative CodeMust successfully pass both BCII and FBI background checks (if 18 years of age or older)Additional Working Conditions:Occasional interaction among unruly childrenOccasional exposure to blood bodily fluids and tissueFrequent requirements to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, see, read, speak, reach, stretch with hands and arms, crouch, kneel, climb, and stoopWeekend/evening/summer workRequirement to lift and/or carry up to a maximum of 50 pounds, and push/pull up to a maximum of 100 pounds, various supplies and/or equipment
