Quarters is a newly opened retail and hospitality concept in Tribeca, New York from the founders of design brand In Common With.

The concept includes a wine bar, daytime cafe, event space, and gallery—and in 2025, it will expand to include an upstairs private dining room. While not their personal home, the founders treat it like it is, and that's how they want everyone to feel when visiting. It aims to combine the comfort of a private residence with the energy of a hospitality space.

Quarters is seeking a Kitchen Porter. You will be an integral part of our culinary team, ensuring the smooth operation and cleanliness of our kitchen, bar, & service spaces. Your role is crucial in maintaining our high standards of hygiene and organization to support the preparation of exceptional culinary experiences.

Responsibilities & Duties

• Keep kitchens, bar, and service areas impeccably clean and organized.
• Keep bathrooms stocked, sanitized, clean, and organized
• Maintain cleanliness standards in storage areas, refrigeration, dry storage rooms, etc.
• Assist in food preparation tasks and support the culinary team as needed.
• Ensure all food items are rotated (FIFO) to maintain freshness.
• Follow DOH guidelines for food safety and sanitation.
• Polish silverware and glassware during service to uphold presentation standards.
• Wash dishes and containers efficiently, minimizing waste.
• Dispose of waste and recyclables responsibly and as needed.
• Assist in the deep cleaning schedule of kitchen facilities.

Qualifications/Skills

• Speed, efficiency, cleanliness, and organization are a must
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
• Skilled at planning and multitasking
• Self-motivated, high energy, organized, reliable, and hardworking.
• Strong and clear verbal communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
• Basic customer service skills preferred but not required
• Capacity to follow instructions and remain calm under pressure.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new systems and procedures.
• Flexible availability to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Essential Functions and Physical Demands

This job requires meeting specific physical demands to perform essential duties effectively. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform those essential functions. While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:

• Exert well-paced mobility for periods of up to 12 hours per day.
• Lift and carry up to 25
• Frequently stand, walk, reach, bend, stoop, push, pull, and knell.
• Frequently utilize the stairs, often while lifting and carrying heavy items.
• Occasionally crouch and climb
• Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to safely operate and use kitchen tools and equipment.

Studio + Compensation

• This is a full-time/part-time position based in Tribeca, New York
• Hours of Operation:
  • Pastries & Coffee: Tuesday-Saturday, 11 am-4 pm
  • Aperitivo Thursday-Saturday, 4 pm-5 pm
  • Bar Room: Thursday-Saturday, 5 pm-1 am
  • Special Events (Tuesday-Saturday pre-booked, minimum 30 days in)
