Job Summary
To be successful as a porter, you should have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to stay organized in a fast-paced environment. An exceptional porter is reliable, efficient, and able to support the kitchen and front-of-house teams by maintaining cleanliness and ensuring that all areas are well-stocked and orderly. This role is essential to the smooth operation of the restaurant and requires excellent time management and teamwork skillsDuties and Responsibilities:
- Kitchen and Dining Support: Assist with basic food preparation tasks, such as washing and peeling produce, as directed by kitchen staff.
- Cleaning and Sanitation: Clean and sanitize kitchen surfaces, equipment, and dining areas before, during, and after shifts to maintain hygiene standards.
- Stocking and Organization: Ensure all stations are well-stocked with essential supplies, equipment, and ingredients, restocking as necessary throughout shifts.
- Dishwashing and Waste Management: Wash dishes, utensils, and cookware promptly, and manage waste and recyclables to keep kitchen areas clear.
- Equipment Maintenance: Monitor the condition of kitchen equipment and tools, reporting any issues to the kitchen supervisor for timely repairs.
- Food Safety: Adhere to food rotation and handling standards to prevent contamination and maintain food quality.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Prior experience in a fast-paced kitchen or food service environment preferred
- Active Food Handlers certificate required
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
- Basic knowledge of food health and safety practices
- Ability to work as part of a team and take direction
- Strong time management and organizational skills

Physical Requirements:
- Endurance: Ability to stand and move around on your feet for extended periods.
- Mobility: Frequent bending, reaching, and stooping to access supplies, retrieve ingredients, and support kitchen operations.
- Strength: Must be able to lift and carry items up to 50 pounds, such as large pots, boxes, and cleaning supplies.
- Dexterity: Requires manual coordination for tasks such as handling utensils, cleaning, and stocking items.
- Work Environment: Ability to perform duties in a warm, busy kitchen with exposure to temperature changes, moderate noise, and high traffic.
- Safety Awareness: Must safely work around hot surfaces, sharp objects, and various kitchen equipment.
