In addition, this position will be eligible for additional benefits consistent with the role. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be determined based on various factors, including but not limited to: scope of role, level of experience, education, accomplishments, internal equity, budget, and subject to Fair Market Value evaluation. The hiring range listed is a good faith determination of potential compensation at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.What you will be doingJOB DESCRIPTIONDEPARTMENT/SERVICE: Research Institute-Basic Science ResearchABOUT THE RESEARCH INSTITUTE:The HSS Research Institute is dedicated to research on identifying mechanisms underlying bone biology and rheumatic conditions, and developing effective approaches for prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. With a focus on tissue repair, improving surgical outcomes, autoimmunity and inflammation, genomics, new treatments, and precision medicine, the impact of our discoveries determine future directions of musculoskeletal research to best improve clinical outcomes, while serving the community in an environment that aspires to scientific excellence.JOB SUMMARY:The Post-Baccalaureate Researcher Program offers more formal training in science and opportunities to present research at conferences and write manuscripts for publication, in preparation for graduate or medical school. A two-year commitment is required. The trainee will develop an independent project and the program offers opportunities to develop strong translational research experience relevant for individuals interested in furthering their career by pursuing medical school or other clinical training. The Postbacc Fellow will work in the laboratory of Dr. Laura Donlin which maintains a strong focus on translational research, using patient samples to identify pathologic features of autoimmune conditions and to diagnose musculoskeletal infections using cutting-edge genome-wide sequencing technologies.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Education: Bachelor's degree in biomedical field with coursework in molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, microbiology, computational biology.Experience: Prefer experience working in a research lab.POSTBACC TRAINEE ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:Curriculum vitae/resume: Include education, relevant research experience, honors and awards, publications, abstracts, other academic workUnofficial transcript (note: foreign transcripts will need to be translated into English)ADDITIONAL SKILLS:Exceptional organizational skillsStrong written and communication skillsProficient use of computers and software, including Microsoft Excel and WordSelf-motivated and able to work independently and as part of a teamKnowledge of Orthopedic and/or Rheumatologic terminology is a plus.Non-Discrimination PolicyHospital for Special Surgery is committed to providing high quality care and skilled, compassionate, reliable service to our community in a safe and healing environment.
