Job DescriptionThe Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL) Environmental & Legacy Management Directorate is seeking a postdoctoral research associate to research advanced non-destructive examination & testing (NDE/NDT) methods for unique materials and components, including AM (additively manufactured) components. The position is specifically in the Materials, NDE & Systems Evaluation group. The Postdoctoral Research Associate positions are fixed term assignments within the company and benefits eligible. Responsibilities
- Experience is desired in methods such as advanced ultrasonics for detection of stress-corrosion cracking via phased array ultrasonic testing (PAUT), total focusing method/full matrix capture (TFM/FMC), guided wave (GWUT), EMAT (electromagnetic acoustic transducer), eddy current (ET), immersion UT and automated UT methods.
- Experience in other NDE methods such as microwave, ground penetrating radar (GPR), ultrasonic pulse velocity (UPV), ultrasonic pulse echo, radiography (RT) and thermography is also desired.
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
- PhD in Materials Science, Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related discipline.
- Strong experimental and analytical skills
- Experience in materials characterization and separation techniques
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Works safely with particular attention to quality. Complies with all policies and standards. Maintain appropriate level government security clearance.
- Individuals must have completed all requirements for their PhD by the start of employment.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, for which US Citizenship is Legally Required.
