The Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Syracuse University seeks applicants for a Postdoctoral Researcher position to work on two projects in the Paleoclimate Dynamics Lab related to the sensitivity of midlatitude rainfall over the North Pacific to global climate change.
The candidate will be expected to collaborate with faculty members in ongoing research projects with the possibility to conduct independent research. The successful candidate will also have the option to participate in teaching, including lectures and laboratory teaching of both undergraduate
and graduate students.

Qualifications
Candidates should hold a PhD in earth science, environmental science,or a related field before starting this position.
Job Specific Qualifications Responsibilities
* Generating new compound specific stable isotope records of hydroclimate from past warm climate intervals including the Pliocene and the last Interglacial period.
* Preparing scientific manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed literature. This will be done in collaboration with the PI and graduate students on the project, for the purpose of communicating the findings of the project to the broader scientific community.
* Contribute to maintenance and functioning of lab facilities via mentoring graduate students and undergraduates, troubleshooting instrumentation.
* Support ongoing outreach efforts in SU EES via the SUSTAIN program and North Side Learning Center educational program.
* Assisting in mentoring of graduate students, where appropriate.
* Participating in scientific conferences, communicating research to peers in the same field, attending career development workshops & webinars, etc. Developing skills and building a peer network is important for the future career of the postdoc, and will also have trickle-down benefits for the PI.
