Job Description:

Seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow with a PhD in Computational Genetics/Genomics, Computational Biology or related field, to lead a project on analyzing tandem repeat (TR) variation in large-scale whole genome sequenced (WGS) datasets, including schizophrenia case-control cohorts and biobank datasets, to elucidate schizophrenia genetic risk.

Responsibilities

Supervised by Dr. Rebecca Birnbaum, responsibilities will consist of implementing a suite of next-generation sequenced-based TR profiling tools, the pipeline for the current project. Other opportunities will include manuscript writing, oral presentations at lab meetings and scientific conferences, and engaging in regular collaborative meetings with scientists locally and internationally.

Qualifications

Required:

· PhD in Statistical Genetics, Biostatistics, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics or related field

· Graduate work demonstrative of successful analyses of large-scale, whole genome sequenced (WGS) or next-generation sequenced data.

· Programming skills (particularly R, Unix/Linux)

· Proficiency in running statistical genetics software

· Excellent written and oral communication skills in English

Desired:

· Background or interest in the application of computational methods and genomics to psychiatry.

· Background or interest in analyses of biobank datasets

· Background or interest in genomic structural variant analyses
