Job Description: Working with and supporting the East Power Trading team the Power Analyst will build and support analytical and trading tools, assist with trade book exposures and P&L reconciliation, perform fundamental market risk analysis and due diligence, and generally support the trading activities on the desk.Responsibilities

  • Perform fundamental analysis of power markets
  • Assist traders with data manipulation and analytical support utilizing Python, SQL, VBA and other programing languages as necessary
  • Participate in the end of day process including running daily P&L for multiple power strategies; ensure accurate curves are submitted and manage models
  • Develop a complete understanding of P&L as it relates to existing desk positions; be able to break down key P&L drivers and report results to traders and management
  • Assist in the development and presentation of trading strategies for various risk and management meetings
  • Identify and develop trading and hedging tools for various risk factors in the East region
  • Organize data for trading ideas for all East Region Trading Hubs
  • Participate in scheduled and ad hoc strategic trading discussions
  • Develop skills to commercially contribute to the team in a manner that will generate or assist in the generation of revenue
Requirements & Qualifications
  • Preferred 2 years of experience in a power or gas trading environment
  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as math, statistics, IT, quantitative finance or engineering required; Advanced degree preferred
  • Understanding of trading instruments such as forwards, futures, swaps and options
  • Exposure to fundamental market conditions and drivers impacting power markets in the East Regions of North America
  • Proficient with Python, SQL, Excel and VBA, or other programming languages
  • Statistical software knowledge (such as Matlab, Eviews, etc.) is a plus
  • Familiarity with a trading system, ideally within OpenLink Endur preferred
