Power Systems Technician IIPayroll TitlePOWER SYSTEMS TECH IITHIS POSITION IS REPRESENTED BY A UNION - 324Annual Compensation ($USD): 110,762 paid on a bi-weekly basis.A Brief OverviewUnder the oversight of the Deputy Director and receiving direction from the Mechanical Contractor of Record, the Power Systems Technician II is responsible for the day-to-day operation and maintenance of all Airport Authority-owned HVAC, Environmental Control and North Powerhouse equipment as assigned.What you will do
- Performs routine inspections and conducts manufacturer's recommended scheduled and preventative maintenance tasks on Airport Authority-owned HVAC and Environmental Control Equipment and North Powerhouse equipment.
- Evacuates, services, and charges refrigeration systems; replaces belts and drive sheaves; maintains water and air balance within the HVAC System
- Uses blueprints, wiring schematics and diagrams to troubleshoot electronic equipment, accessories and system appurtenances for all HVAC and North Powerhouse mechanical equipment
- Reviews and updates maintenance records and operating data in the Building Management System and Computerized Maintenance Management System
- Maintains, repairs, and replaces equipment serving the Detroit Metropolitan Airport and Willow Run Airport, up to and including the point of interface with building systems. Work is inclusive of, but not limited to field boilers and chillers, steam and chilled water loops, Building Automation System, Variable Air Volume (VAV) boxes, controls, motor pump seals, filters, traps, fans, bearings, air compressors, and other related auxiliary equipment
- Responds to Temperature Service Calls , customer complaints and downed equipment as assigned
- Welds, solders, and brazes piping to complete repairs; fabricates support structures as necessary
- Performs other duties including but not limited to insulating, painting, and performing custodial work in the mechanical rooms and the North Powerhouse
- Operates the North Powerhouse boilers, chillers, all auxiliary equipment within the safe operating parameters. Maintains all required logs, assists with all record keeping and notifies all required parties in the event of outages, plant issues, or other conditions that warrant notification
- Performs water analysis and treatment, as needed, for the boilers, condensate, chilled water, condenser water and reverse osmosis systems
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Certificate of High School Equivalency
- Two (2) or more years of related experience repairing and servicing HVAC Equipment.
- Valid Driver's License and a safe, acceptable driving record.
- 1st Class Refrigeration Operator License issued by Detroit or Dearborn
- 2nd Class or higher Stationary Engineer License issued by Detroit or Dearborn
