Position Summary
As a PJM Trader you will play a critical role in managing and optimizing the performance of our energy assets in the PJM Interconnection. You will work closely with our operations, asset management, and risk teams to execute trading strategies that maximize profitability and ensure reliability. This role requires deep expertise in PJM market operations and market settlement processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Trading & Optimization: Execute energy trading strategies for asset-backed portfolio, including renewable energy and battery storage assets, in the PJM market, leveraging in-depth knowledge of locational marginal pricing (LMP), congestion management, and grid conditions.
- Market Analysis & Strategy: Analyse market trends, price forecasts, and regulatory changes to inform trading decisions and optimize asset dispatch.
- Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with the asset management and operations teams to ensure optimal performance of assets, and with the risk management team to monitor and manage exposure.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to all PJM market rules and regulatory requirements, including risk limits and internal protocols.
- Post-Trade Operations: Manage post-trade processes, including reporting, settlement, and performance analysis to maximize revenue from PJM's ancillary services and capacity markets.
Qualifications
- Experience: 3-5 years of direct trading experience in the PJM market, with a strong focus on asset-backed trading and cash trading. Familiarity with renewable energy assets (wind, solar, BESS) is a plus.
- Market Knowledge: In-depth understanding of PJM market operations, including LMP pricing, congestion, FTRs, and capacity markets. Experience in real-time and day-ahead trading is essential.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with trading platforms, market analysis tools, and power system dispatch software. Knowledge of optimization models, programming, and data analysis (Python, SQL) is a plus.
- Analytical Abilities: Strong quantitative and analytical skills to identify market opportunities, assess risk, and make informed trading decisions.
- Team Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including asset management, operations, and risk management.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with PJM's regulatory environment, market rules, and compliance requirements.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, engineering, or a related field.
