The Practical Nursing Success Coach collaborates with current faculty and staff in developing plans to support student success. The Practical Nursing Success Coach inspires, mentors, motivates, and challenges students to excel. The Practical Nursing Success Coach supports enrollment, student development, and retention services while ensuring high-quality learning in accordance with Reid State Technical College's (RSTC) policies and procedures and federal, state and regional regulatory requirements and accreditation standards. The Practical Nursing Success Coach shall provide assistance to the instructors with skills check-offs and perform a wide range of complex and confidential secretarial and administrative/office duties requiring knowledge of college and practical nursing policies and procedures in accordance with the respective approved curriculum on file in the Office of the Dean of Instruction.Salary: Commensurate with education and experience according to ACCS Board of Trustees Salary Schedule E3/04. (This is a grant-funded position. Continued employment is dependent on continued funding.) Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Mentors' students throughout their program of study.
- Tailors services available to meet the program and students' needs.
- Collaborates with the faculty to promote a quality student learning experience.
- Acts as the first point of contact/team resource concerning student performance issues and questions.
- Tracks metrics relevant to student progression through the program and the reason for stop out if relevant.
- Encourages and supports students as they gain the skills and knowledge necessary for success.
- Provides a trusting environment where students can share their thoughts, aspirations, concerns, and interests.
- Acts as the student liaison between other departments
- Interprets and accurately communicates college policies and procedures for students, faculty and staff.
- Initiates, discusses and implements strategies to improve student success.
- Identifies and directs students to appropriate resources or departments for specialized on- and off-campus resources to meet individual needs.
- Develops collaborative, effective working relationships and programs with college personnel who are critical to nursing student success.
- Assesses all programs, services and initiatives to ensure the learning outcomes and program outcomes are met. Report the findings on a monthly basis.
- Maintain unencumbered Alabama Nursing license.
- Assist assigned departmental instructors and students in laboratory exercises and hands-on training techniques.
- Supervising and assisting assigned students on appointed projects and equipment in the respective department.
- Prepare the skills lab for checkoffs and ensure that the lab is cleaned at the end of each skills check-off session.
- Make copies of skills verification and skills check-off sheets and have them stocked in the lab area.
- Assist students in the computer lab and make sure that the computer lab is cleaned and send requests to IT when updates are needed for required software and computer programs used within the department.
- Serve as substitute clinical instructor in extreme cases of instructor absence.
- Demonstrate ethical behavior, loyalty, honesty, and integrity, both on and off campus.
- Participate in staff, division, and committee meetings as assigned.
- Actively participate in division/college committees and campus activities.
- Participate in professional development activities.
- Other duties as assigned by the President, Director of Instructional Services/Career Technical Education Instructor, and Division Chairperson.
Qualifications
- Certification/licensure in the Nursing discipline required.
- Unencumbered Alabama Nursing license.
- Evidence of current nursing knowledge, clinical skills, and teaching competence.
- Experience safeguarding confidential information.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- The ability to use independent judgment is required.
- Ability to work well with others and under pressure.
- One year of recent clinical practice experience and/or knowledge in the healthcare environment and patient services required. One year of online education experience required (as either an online facilitator, instructor or student).
