We are seeking a Practice Leader with extensive knowledge of commercial disputes and corporate investigations support services to assume oversight of our growing Commercial Disputes & Investigations (CDI) practice within Forensics, Valuation & Litigation Support (FVLS). The successful candidate will have a proven track record of driving business development, team empowerment, and strategic planning to achieve the goals of their practice group. In addition, he/she will play a critical role in the ongoing strategic transition of the company. At DLA, LLC, our Forensics, Valuation & Litigation Support practice produces results that go beyond what our clients require by adopting best practices for engagements that combine financial, accounting, advisory, investigative, and valuation services across a wide range of industries, working with both large and small firms.Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a strategic business plan for the Commercial Disputes & Investigations practice group that aligns with the company's overall strategy and goals
- Drive business development efforts, including identifying and pursuing new client opportunities, cultivating relationships with key stakeholders, and participating in proposal development and presentations
- Empower and motivate the team by providing leadership, coaching, and mentorship to achieve their goals and build a culture of excellence and accountability
- Collaborate with other business group leaders, the President & COO, and other senior leaders to ensure alignment and support of the company's strategic initiatives
- Monitor industry trends and stay abreast of changes in the regulatory environment to identify opportunities and risks for the practice group and the company
- Collaborate on the recruitment, retention, and development of top talent for the practice group, working closely with the HR team to ensure a strong pipeline of candidates and a positive employee experience
- Manage the performance of the practice group's team members, including setting expectations, providing regular feedback, and conducting performance reviews
- Collaborate with other departments, such as marketing and finance, to ensure the practice group's activities are aligned with the company's overall strategy and goals
- Foster a culture of collaboration and knowledge sharing within the practice group and across the company, encouraging team members to leverage each other's expertise and resources to deliver high-quality work
- Develop and maintain relationships with key external stakeholders, such as industry associations, regulatory bodies, and other influencers, to enhance the practice group's visibility and reputation in the market
- Participate in the development of the company's annual budget and oversee the financial performance of the practice group to ensure achievement of revenue, profitability, and growth targets
- Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement by leveraging technology and best practices to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the practice group's operations
- Manage client engagement staffing, billings/collections, and ensure client profitability targets are met
- Demonstrate advanced knowledge of complex commercial litigation concepts to support Firm initiatives and development opportunities with internal knowledge sharing and panel discussions
Knowledge & Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related field
- CPA, CVA, ABV, ASA, CFA, CFE or CFF certification preferred
- 15+ years of experience in commercial litigation support services across D&I (disputes & investigations), including forensic accounting, financial analysis, expert testimony, and consulting services
- Demonstrated experience leading and managing teams of consultants and analysts
- Strong business development skills, including a track record of developing and maintaining relationship with clients and generating new business opportunities
- Entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to contribute to the growth and development of the FVLS practice and the firm as a whole
- Ability to work collaboratively with our team of experts and build lasting relationships with clients
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel; experience with Quicken and QuickBooks is a plus
