M-F- 8am-4pm /9am-5pm
- The Pediatric Ambulatory Subspecialty practice RN will provide support to the patients who are seeking care and treatment within our outpatient practice.
- This associate will provide coverage Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m.- 5 p.m.
- Hours may vary based on the needs of the practice.
- This CDCES certified or CDCES eligible RN will provide nursing care to our pediatric patients and support a variety of pediatric subspecialties including, but not limited to, allergy and immunology, adolescent medicine, cardiology, endocrinology and diabetes, gastroenterology, genetics, pulmonary, and rheumatology.
- As an integral part of the practice, the RN will facilitate the flow of practice as directed by clinical and administrative leadership.
- The RN will provide direct patient care within scope of practice; provide phlebotomy and Point of Care testing.
- The qualified candidate will be responsible for assessing patients, developing, and documenting discharge plans, administering medications/vaccines, and interventions within their scope.
- The RN will review, monitor, and order medications and supplies, as needed.
- This candidate will provide patient phone triage, patient/family education, referral coordination, and obtain prior authorizations for medications.
- Shared responsibilities associated with this position include high risk counseling, training, and management for pediatric patients with diabetes and their families.
Requirements:
- New York State license for Registered Professional Nurse and current registration of valid permit to practice in New York State as an RN.
- Associate or Bachelor's Degree and 3+ years of clinical experience, two of which must be in the specialty or related services.
- Pediatric experience.
- BLS and Infection Control training required.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to use basic data entry and retrieval systems.
- Certified Diabetes Care & Education Specialist (CDCES) certification (or eligibility).
Preferred:
- Experience in allergy and asthma services, including allergen skin testing, allergen immunotherapy, and spirometry.
- Experience providing care for pediatric and adolescents of transgender patients.
- Experience assisting physicians with IUD or Nexplanon insertions/removals.
- CDE certification.
- Training and experience with EPIC electronic medical record is preferred.
- Able to perform POC blood glucose checks.
- Able to administer insulin.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English).
