Together, we can shape the future of healthcare and positively impact countless lives.We are seeking a qualified part time Pre-Op Call Specialist Nurse for our Ambulatory Surgery Center in Austin, TX.The Pre-Op Call Specialist Nurse will be responsible for making pre-op phone calls to patients and review health history, including medications, any allergies, and review specific instructions for what patients need to do prior to surgery.Essential FunctionsCompletes and documents pre-procedure/surgery phone calls to patients. Reviews health history, including medications, any allergies, and review specific instructions for what patient need to do prior to surgery: Advises patients on the need for NPO status, sedation guidelines, and appointment arrival times. Reviews and educates Plan of Care with patients and types of procedure/surgeryAccurately advises patient on the need to hold medications according to facility and procedure guidelines.Explains procedure/treatment/discharge to patient.Perform chart review on daily basis to ensure completeness and accuracy of patient documentation.Completes post-procedure follow up phone calls to patients daily and according to specified call schedule.Instruct individuals, families and other groups on topics such as health education, disease prevention, and develop health improvement programs.Performs calls in a professional, legal, and ethical manner.Consult and coordinate with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans.Observes and documents patients' medical and educational needs to assist in patient assessment and care.Consistently follows the Nursing Plan of Care for the patient.Participates and maintains safety and dignity of patient at all times.Effectively communicates with all providers and staff members.Participates in RN Peer review process, reviewing nursing plans documented by other nursing staff and providing feedback according to corporate process.Helps support corporate Quality Assurance initiatives as requested by the Quality Improvement & Compliance Manager.Effectively communicates with patient regarding triage needs. Documents accurately in EMR, creates encounters as needed, properly updates and utilizes medication module. Ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).Ability to promote favorable facility image with patients, providers, insurance companies and general public.Ability to independently make decisions and solve problems; ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.Evidence of leadership qualities.
