Coastal Medical Center, LLC located in Sarasota, Florida, is seeking a skilled and compassionate Pre-op Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic team. As a Pre-op RN, you will play a crucial role in providing safe and efficient care to patients before they undergo surgical procedures. Your expertise will contribute to ensuring a smooth preoperative process, promoting patient comfort, and maintaining high standards of patient safety and satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

  • Patient Assessment: Conduct thorough assessments of patients' medical history, current health status, and any potential risks or concerns prior to surgery.
  • Preparation and Education: Prepare patients for surgery by explaining preoperative procedures, providing information about the surgical process, and addressing any patient questions or concerns.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including medical history, medications, allergies, and any relevant information for the surgical team.
  • Medication Management: Administer prescribed medications, including preoperative medications and anesthesia as directed by the anesthesiologist.
  • Informed Consent: Ensure patients understand and sign informed consent documents, explaining the potential risks, benefits, and alternatives to the surgical procedure.
  • Collaboration: Communicate effectively with the surgical team, anesthesiologists, surgeons, and other healthcare providers to ensure seamless coordination of patient care.
  • Patient Advocacy: Advocate for patients' needs and concerns, ensuring their emotional well-being, comfort, and dignity are maintained throughout the preoperative process.
  • Monitoring: Monitor patients' vital signs, oxygen saturation, and other relevant parameters to identify and address any changes or concerns promptly.
  • Preoperative Checklist: Complete preoperative checklists, including verifying patient identification, surgical site, and ensuring all required documentation is in place.
  • Emergency Response: Be prepared to respond to emergencies, providing immediate and appropriate interventions when necessary.
  • Sterile Techniques: Assist in maintaining a sterile environment in the preoperative area, ensuring all equipment and supplies are properly prepared and ready for surgery.
  • Compliance: Adhere to all relevant protocols, procedures, and regulatory standards to maintain a safe and compliant preoperative environment.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay updated with the latest advancements in preoperative care, medical technologies, and nursing practices to deliver high-quality patient care.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Florida.
  • Must have IV Skills
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certifications required.
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment.
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate documentation.
  • Strong commitment to patient safety, comfort, and quality of care.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
