Job Type Full-time Description The Pre-Operative/PACU Registered Nurse is responsible for the pre-operative and post-operative care of the surgical patients. Essential duties include:
- Ensuring all drugs and equipment is properly prepared for each case.
- Greeting the patient in the pre-op area for the purposes of identification and physical/psychological assessments, as well as to decrease patient anxiety and help plan nursing actions intra-operatively.
- Assisting in the transfer of the patient to the OR table and monitor the patient during the induction of anesthesia.
- Assessing the physical status of the post-op patient through personal observation and interaction.
- Interpreting diagnostic measures and completing patient care documentation.
- Properly identifying, logging, and delivering any specimens.
- Assisting with inter-case clean up and terminal cleaning activities.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. ASN required, BSN preferred.
- Current New York Registered Nurse license
- Current New York Infection Control Certificate
- Current AHA BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification
- Minimum 2 years of PACU experience preferred
- Experience working in ambulatory surgery centers preferred
Salary Description $50-$55/hr
