ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Communicate with workers compensation adjustors and nurse case managers on a daily basis regard workers compensation benefits. Verify insurance eligibility and workers comp benefits for patients scheduled for services. Obtaining referrals from primary care providers and/or insurance websites as assigned. Contact insurance companies via phone, email, or online insurance portals to obtain benefit details. Document and update insurance information in the patient account in the Athena system. Address and resolve any discrepancies related to insurance verification. Maintain detailed notes regarding insurance verification activities in the patient Athena account. Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations regarding patient privacy and insurance verification processes. QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of 2 years of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in insurance verification and workers compensation. Familiarity with insurance terms, policies and procedures. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Strong customer service abilities over the phone. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Understanding of various insurance plans including Workers Comp, HMOs, PPOs, Medicare, and Medicaid. Understanding of Co-pays, Co-insurance, and deductibles. Insurance company web portals. Ability to think outside of the box to analyze a problem and execute a solution.
