What You'll Do The Precision Machining Technician at Zygo performs Inspection, machining, and assembly of mechanical components. Performs mechanical inspection, cleaning, kitting, machining (lathe and lapping), and documentation. This position also supports precision assembly and quality team as required.
- Strict attention to prescribed safety rules and policies
- Perform operation of manual lathes to fabricate precision spacers and shims.
- Grinding and lapping of precision spacers and shims.
- Inspect precision parts and shims and spacers to 5-micron tolerances.
- Provide continual monitoring of quality by self-checking machined part dimensions.
- Detailed documentation of measurement results.
- Precision deburring and cleaning of mechanical parts.
- Provide continual monitoring of quality by self-checking machined part dimensions.
What You Need to Know Machining background with demonstrated experience using manual lathes and surface grinders Ability to use micrometers, calibers, drop-dial indicators, and pin gages Aptitude for handling critical mechanical components Basic level Computer skills required (Data Entry and Email)
