Job Title: Precision Machinist Job Code: 17627 Job Location: Panama City, FL OR Jacksonville, FL (On-Site) Job Schedule: Swing Shift M-F (Primary 2nd or 3rd shift) Job Description: The Precision Machinist will be responsible for performing all duties required to set-up, adjust, operate, and maintain electrically powered metal machining equipment such as a milling machine or lathe. The equipment to be used shipboard will be 2 axis and 3 axis portable milling machines. Must have experience with hand tools, power tools, and basic electrical connections.
Essential Functions: - Candidate must have specific experience utilizing metal machining methods including cutting speeds, cutting feeds, surface smoothness, flatness.
- Experience with vertical and horizontal milling machines, line boring equipment, and lathes is required.
- Must have specific experience with precision measuring devices such as micrometers, depth gauges, angle indicators, drilling, and tapping of threaded holes.
- Willing and able to travel up to 60%.
- Able to provide own hand tools specific to the trade.
- Able to obtain and maintain a DoD Clearance.
- Must be able to work 2nd or 3rd shift while machining and 1st shift when machining work is not available.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications: - Requires highly developed job knowledge and skills typically obtained through a combination of education and experience.
- A High School Diploma or equivalent with eight (8) years of prior machine shop experience performing metal machining, utilizing portable and/or machine shop equipment.
- 2 years port-secondary/associate degree with four (4) years of prior machine
- Must be a US Citizen.
Preferred Additional Skills: - Familiarization with Optical Alignment.
- Certified trade school training.
