JOB SUMMARY:
The Preflight and Finishing Technician position is primarily responsible for producing computer generated artwork in a variety of media in addition to performing graphics finishing.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Prepress
Collaborate closely with graphic designers
Prepare final press-ready files based on supplied specifications for several types of printing
Make various formats of supplied artwork production-ready and resolve any artwork issues that arise during production
Provide image retouching, clipping paths and additional image manipulation
Package and preflight files for release to printers or media partners
Create PDFs for print and client review
Conduct press checks
Prepare images for online and mobile applications
Catalog and reference art for future projects
Follow a development timeline to ensure tasks are being completed on time
Troubleshoot problems as they arise with both the creative team and the printer
Creates designs for clients that visually communicate desired product or project messages. Designs may be used in various visual media including magazines, billboards, advertising, restaurant menus, and product packaging.
Creates various layouts, iconography, package designs, website designs, logos, and illustrations according to client specifications.
Meets with clients to discuss requirements and the design of the project.
Creates rough drafts and sketches of concept, and presents to client for further discussion and revision.
Participates in collaborative revision and approval process until final design is approved.
Create custom boxes with software.
Post material and labor consumption on production orders in ERP system.

Finishing
- Read and analyze production and shipping orders to determine graphic and exhibit requirements.
- Laminate printed media using pneumatic thermal laminators.
- Install large multi-panel graphic murals on existing structures.
- Trim graphic panels to ensure proper alignment.
- Cut, weed, and mount vinyl graphics to various substrates and insure proper alignment.
- Finish trimmed graphics panels with appropriate hardware (popups, banner stands, etc.)
- Package finished products using appropriate materials to minimize risk of damage during transport.
- Assemble components of exhibit based on design specifications and setup instructions
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree; major or significant coursework in Art, Graphic Design, or related disciplines highly preferred or three years of related experience
Advanced knowledge of Adobe Photoshop
- Advanced knowledge of Adobe Illustrator
- Advanced knowledge of ESKO i-cut prep. software
- Intermediate knowledge of MAC OS platform
- Intermediate knowledge of industry standard vinyl cutting software (i.e. Summa, FlexiSign)
- Intermediate knowledge of color theory principles
- Basic knowledge of algebra and geometry principles
- Basic knowledge of POS systems utilizing user que data (i.e. Microsoft Dynamics NAV)
- Understand schematic drawings as applies to graphic and exhibit assembly
- Basic knowledge and use of measurement devices
- The position requires good, basic, clerical and administrative skills with emphasis on verbal and written communication skills (in English), good common sense; positive attitude; willingness to take initiative; and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to work accurately and quickly under company deadlines.

- Trade show experience a plus
