Job Overview:

The Prep Cook is responsible for delivering high-quality food and service at all times. They oversee daily operations and ensure food production and plating align with company standards and timing. Prep Cooks must strictly follow company recipes. You will work closely with James Beard Award-winning celebrity Chef Stephan Pyles, a 5th-generation Texan and a founding father of Southwestern Cuisine.

Responsibilities:
  • Set up and break down your station daily.
  • Perform routine kitchen tasks.
  • Follow the prep list created for the day.
  • Prepare cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meats, etc.
  • Assist with stocking, labeling, ordering, receiving, and maintaining proper food safety procedures.
  • Set up workstations and ingredients to prepare food according to recipes.
  • Undertake basic cooking duties, including preparing simple dishes such as salads and appetizers.
  • Wash and clean kitchen equipment and utensils, and store them at the end of each shift.
  • Ensure kitchen procedures and hygiene meet food safety standards and regulations.
  • Check food prep and storage areas to ensure compliance with health codes and safety regulations.
  • Assist with washing dishes during operations.
  • Comply with all nutrition and sanitation guidelines.

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds; frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Requirements & Experience:
  • Clear understanding of the English language (verbal and written).
  • Knowledge of cooking techniques.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimal work experience required.
  • Ability to work in hot and damp environments.
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations to ensure safety.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for up to 8 hours per shift.
  • Flexible schedule, willing to meet the demands of a dynamic operation.
  • Time management skills.
  • Willingness to comply with all food safety procedures.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations.
  • State-issued Food Handler certificate.
