- Prepare and portion ingredients (e.g., chopping vegetables, cutting meat, etc.) as directed by recipes or chefs.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including kitchen equipment, utensils, and storage areas.
- Monitor food inventory and communicate any shortages to the kitchen manager or chef.
- Assist with cooking duties during peak times or as needed.
- Properly store food items in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Perform routine kitchen cleaning tasks, such as sanitizing surfaces and taking out the trash.
- Follow all food safety and hygiene practices, including correct food handling, labeling, and temperature control.
- Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous kitchen or food preparation experience is preferred but not required.
- Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment and utensils.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage time efficiently.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds), and perform repetitive tasks.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Food handler certification (or ability to obtain one) is preferred.
