- Manages and provides oversight to all areas of the department. Directly manages all department staff, including review writing, scheduling, and providing ongoing coaching, development, and feedback. Assesses, prioritizes, and delegates tasks and production.
- Ensures consistency of department conditions. Ensures all areas of the department are stocked, rotated, faced, and adhered to merchandising standards and category schematics.
- Responsible for in-stock conditions in the department. Maintains appropriate inventory levels to achieve sales and margin goals.
- Orders Prepared Food products according to anticipated sales and seasonal needs. Trains staff to write orders and production schedules consistent with department goals and standards to ensure the highest level of product availability.
- Builds displays and arranges department products to make attractive presentations, highlighting featured/unique/seasonal items.
- Plans for weekly ads, events, and holidays using tools and reports. Works with store management to understand and respond to current store trends.
- Maintains professional vendor relationships.
- Develops and maintains teamwork among all members of the team.
- Ensures customer special orders are accurately placed and delivered.
- Receives and unloads merchandise; checks quality, count, and condition. Communicates any issues to management and the merchandising team.
- Stocks and rotates products with attention to product quality and expiration dates.
- Maintains the organization, rotation, and cleanliness of back stock areas.
- Assists customers with product selection. Shares product knowledge with customers. Makes recommendations and suggestions based on customer needs.
- Assists with food preparation and production. Wraps, weighs and prices products according to department policy.
- Processes customers' made-to-order items accurately and expeditiously.
- Plans, leads, and analyses monthly perishable inventory.
- Demonstrates and shares a solid knowledge of products in the store and industry trends with a general understanding of culinary terminology, product labeling, and common dietary restrictions.
- Demonstrates a solid understanding of labor, sales, and margin goals and factors that influence them. Meets labor and margin goals and schedules departments accordingly. Develops and executes a plan when results do not meet expectations.
- Coaches department to maintain appropriate, accurate, and organized inventory and backstock. Handles damaged and spoiled products according to company policy.
- Maintains a working knowledge of department equipment and can train staff and troubleshoot errors as needed.
- Leverages resources and labor to maximize efficiency, without compromising quality and service standards.
- Balances administrative tasks with presence on the floor.
- Performs other tasks and duties as assigned.
