Position Summary: The Preschool Paraprofessional supports the classroom teacher in creating a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for young children. This role involves assisting with classroom activities, supervising students, and helping to implement developmentally appropriate educational activities. The paraprofessional plays a vital role in supporting children's social, emotional, and cognitive development in a preschool setting.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the classroom teacher with lesson plans, daily activities, and preparation of materials.
- Supervise and ensure the safety of children during classroom activities, outdoor play, and transitions.
- Support children in developing social skills, such as sharing, listening, and conflict resolution.
- Aid in the implementation of learning activities designed to promote literacy, math, fine motor, and gross motor skills.
- Provide one-on-one or small group assistance to students as directed by the teacher.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting classroom environment.
- Observe and document children's behavior and learning progress, reporting any concerns to the teacher.
- Support children in daily routines, including snack, rest time, and toileting if needed.
- Engage with families in a warm and professional manner as needed.
- Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development sessions.
