Help make a difference and join our mission by securing an exciting career with YWCA Harford Region! $17.00 per hourDays: Monday - FridayHours will fall within the hours of operation: 6:45 a.m. -5:45 pm37.5 hours per weekPosition Summary: Assist Head Teacher in providing a supportive, respectful, safe and healthy environment for children enrolled in YWCA Early Learning Centers. Support the Head Teacher in the implementation of activities geared to meet the developing needs of a large group of children and challenge the interests of the children in a productive and safe manner.Essential Functions of the Job:
- Assist in planning, developing and delivery of varied classroom and outdoor activities that will enable children to develop and grow in their individual interest and in abilities ad in the development of short and long term goals for improvement of class programs;
- Assist in maintaining an orderly, safe, healthy, inviting environment in accordance with accreditation,
- Utilization of the YWCA Name to Face Accountability and Ratio sheets to ensure proper accountability and safety of children; licensing and the agency's health and safety standards;
- Follow defined State and YWCA protocols for reporting suspected child abuse and neglect;
- Assist in the development and implementation of curriculum to meet the physical emotional and intellectual needs of each child;
- Support student activities, to include development and safety through direct participation with children and the performance of various support duties such as snack preparation, delivery, clean-up, record keeping, monitoring of bathroom facilities, etc.;
- Develop and maintain positive on-going communication with parents in a sensitive and responsive manner;
- Maintain student information in a confidential manner in accordance with YWCA policy;
- Assist Head Teacher with completing developmental observations and assessments as outlined in the program requirements;
- Ensure appropriate classroom behavior management, supporting children by providing positive guidance and redirection, implement individual Inclusion Support Plans, implement and support the Positive Guidance Policies of the YWCA;
- Assume daily classroom responsibilities in the absence of the Head Teacher;
- Participate in training and other professional development activities to enhance knowledge and understanding of racial justice and woman's empowerment. Align programs and services both implicitly with mission of eliminating racism and empowering women.
RequirementsEducation: High School Diploma or GED; ECE credits preferredExperience: •18 years of age or older;•Basic knowledge of the principles of Child Development;•Demonstrated ability to develop age appropriate exhibits and activities for the classroom;•CPR/First Aid certification or certification within two months of employment.Skills:
