Job DetailsJob LocationSchenectady-Bigelow - Schenectady, NYPosition TypeFull TimeSalary Range$19.00 - $21.00 HourlyTravel PercentageNoneDescriptionAs a Preschool Teacher, you will provide a safe, clean, nurturing environment for children and provide a balance of open-ended exploration, guided inquiry, structured activities, and sensory-based play to foster children's curiosity, engagement, reasoning, and problem-solving skills. You will report to the Preschool Special Education Teacher and you will work onsite.Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the non-SED children in the classroom.
- Work with the Special Education teacher to plan daily and weekly activities designed to meet the individual needs of all children.
- Facilitate all initial screenings and ongoing assessments for assigned children
- Track data for non-SED children in the classroom, including entering into the data system
- Individualize curriculum for each child's specific strengths and areas of need.
- Assist in the provision of care for children which takes into account the educational, social, developmental, and health needs of the group, and the individual child.
- Provide a balance of open-ended exploration, teacher-guided inquiry, structured activities, and sensory-based play; foster children's curiosity, engagement, reasoning, and problem-solving
- Demonstrate effective classroom leadership skills by the ability to provide directions, work as a part of a team, and assuring the completion of records, attendance reports, and data collection.
- Provide a variety of materials and resources for children to explore, manipulate and use both in learning activities and in imaginative play.
- Supervise and interact with children during family-style mealtimes, and during all activities.
- Supervise and assist children in toileting, hand washing, and dressing.
- Follow fire drills, shelter-in-place, intruder, or any emergency procedures to safely assist children as per protocols.
Requirements and Education:
- CDA (Child Development Associate Credential) OR
- Associates degree or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
- Up to and including 6 months of experience.
