As the Vice President, Market Growth and Planning you will lead development and implementation of 5-year market growth plans that align with capital and long range strategic financial plans to support access and affordability. POSITION SUMMARY This position provides enterprise strategy, planning data and analytics, strategic initiative development and prioritization. Leads Banners market growth planning and prioritization in existing markets and business lines for acute, ambulatory, and medical group. Aligns Banners portfolio with the market care and coverage strategy. This role focuses on organic growth through four key areas: System Market Planning Partners with key stakeholders in developing, prioritizing, and executing Banner Healths growth plans in all markets into actionable elements that align with Banners strategic, capital and budgetary planning. Action Plan Development & Management Models One Team commitment and builds strong internal and local external relationships with key stakeholders to prioritize and align growth opportunities with budgeting, capital allocation, strategy, and other key internal teams. Works with key market leaders and functional areas to translate the system-wide strategy into actionable steps. Competitive Intelligence Leads efforts providing comprehensive review of Banners assets, markets, and services and market position. Identifies and tracks traditional and non-traditional sources of competition and evaluates threat level and partnership potential. Market Intelligence & Data Analytics Leverages market data (both locally and nationally) to enhance strategic decisions and focus. Develops dashboards and provides planning activities for all enterprise businesses and service lines ensuring appropriate access, efficient operational utilization, and strong market position. CORE FUNCTIONS System Market Planning 1. Leads development and implementation of 5-year market growth plans that align with capital and long range strategic financial plans to support access and affordability. Works with stakeholders to prioritize and execute plans supporting market leadership and growth objectives in short, mid and long-term horizons. 2. Develops and implements market growth initiatives that align with business objectives, drive new growth, align with merger/acquisition efforts, and optimize profitability. 3. Partners with Finance in evaluating portfolio asset performance, strengths, weaknesses, and competitive landscape to identify service and market optimization. 4. Organizes annual plans and ensures alignment of market growth initiatives with budget and capital planning. Action Plan Development & Management 5. Builds and maintains relationships with internal and external stakeholders to create a collaborative environment, support One Team planning efforts, ensure needed resource allocation, and leverage local relationships in supporting growth initiatives. 6. Serves as a key member of Capital Allocation Review Team (CART), Financial Planning & Budgeting Committee (FPA), and Market Growth Team (MGT). 7. Represents Banner externally and meets regularly with strategic partners, including market economic development, real estate and business leaders to understand strategic needs and opportunities. Competitive Intelligence 8. Develops and supports effective tracking processes to review Banners market position and environmental opportunities and threats and their potential to disrupt Banner business. Assesses strengths, weaknesses, threats and opportunities in markets and submarkets. 9. Creates consistent process to review and align Banners portfolio of services in key markets and submarkets. Market Intelligence & Data Analytics 10. Leverages market intelligence regarding competitors, customers, and emerging trends to produce actionable insights and strategies. 11. Uses data driven approaches to assess market threats and opportunities in consideration of Banners strengths and weaknesses. Identifies appropriate data sources and any gaps. Develops dashboards and scorecards proactively monitoring and assessing utilization, capacity, and performance optimization opportunities. 12. Partners with Operations in the development and review of plans and business cases specific to ambulatory, community and academic delivery, medical group, and service line initiatives. Identifies and leverages systems and tools to provide analysis and recommendations in developing market networks. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Strong knowledge of healthcare operations as normally obtained through the completion of a Masters Degree in Business, Health Services Administration, or a related field and ten years of progressively responsible managerial experience in applicable area(s) of position responsibility, including a minimum of five years management level experience within a major health care organization or health system setting. Experience working in a large, highly matrixed, integrated delivery system. Proven track record of driving growth and performance outcomes, as well as accomplishing organizational goals. Experience anticipating and responding to the needs of internal and external customers. Proven experience in leading fiscally sound, profitable, efficient, and responsible operations for a large multi-faceted division. Strong financial, planning and business acumen. Knowledge of budgeting and forecasting methodologies. Skilled in effectively engaging management level staff, employees, and stakeholders in order to build partnerships, achieve strategic initiatives, and attain organizational goals; constructing new and innovative solutions for complex and varying problems and situations; mentoring and coaching management level staff by providing open and honest feedback that results in enhanced performance outcomes; developing and implementing strategic goals and initiatives that demonstrate a strong commitment to organizational success; effectively allocating resources in order to accomplish organizational goals; quickly assessing and assimilating organizational and industry financial dynamics in order to make appropriate decisions and act quickly on new initiatives; negotiating win-win scenarios with outside vendors/partners while representing the organization in the best possible light; developing collaborative relationships with internal and/or external strategic partners and/or other applicable parties. Excellent human relations, organizational and communication skills are essential.
