Description
This position monitors the industries that discharge wastewater into the Aiken County collection system to ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations.
1. Sample Collections and Testing - This position travels to the industries that are tied through the sanitary sewer system to the County treatment plant, and collects samples of the waste water pretreatment for testing. The samples are tested to ensure they are within acceptable parameters for pH balance, biological oxygen demand, chemical oxygen demand, and total suspended solids. The water must be within guidelines before it can be released into the trunk lines for processing by the plant. The incumbent will inform the industry of what is required if needed.
2. Maintenance - This position is responsible for maintaining all equipment used for these purposes, and for documenting proper and regular preventative maintenance as it is performed.
3. Inspection - This position will perform onsite inspections of facilities on a daily basis to ensure guidelines are met and maintained.
This position operates with supervision from management, but is free to perform daily duties as needed. The major challenge for this role is coordinating sampling and results with third parties when necessary.

REQUIRED EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND AND JOB-RELATED EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Level of Job-Related Education: High school
Minimum Amount of Job-Related Experience: 2 years in environmental work
Minimum Level of any Required Qualifications, Licenses, Certificates, Registrations, or any Relevant Knowledge, Job Skill or Equivalent Experience: Class A Biological wastewater certification
