Job Title:Fleet & Facilities Maintenance TechnicianReports To:Vehicle Maintenance SupervisorFLSA:Hourly/Non-Exempt (Class II) Full TimeHours:Monday Friday; 10-hour shifts scheduled between 4:30 am to 5 pmSaturday 7 am to Noon, and on-call as neededNature and Scope of PositionThe technician is responsible for the general upkeep and preventative maintenance of the transit vehicle fleet and facilities. The primary objective of the technician is to ensure that safe, reliable, and efficient public transit vehicles and facilities are available for daily operations.Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe following is not intended to be a comprehensive list of the duties and responsibilities of the Mechanic position, but rather a general description of some of the essential functions of this position.Properly diagnose problems and perform required repairs in a safe, timely, cost-effective mannerPerform scheduled preventative maintenance inspections and repairs as requiredPerform specific vehicle maintenance, diagnosis, and repairs, including test drivesRemove, install, repair, disassemble, and assemble parts related to all mechanical and electrical systems on District buses and support vehiclesSafely operate all tools and machinery required to perform work dutiesAssist with general facility maintenanceAssist with the upkeep and maintenance of route stops, signs, and sheltersSnow removal of facilities and route stopsEnsure completeness and accuracy of reports and daily paperworkFollow company safety and operational rules and proceduresMUST HAVE OWN TOOLSOther duties as assignedRelationshipsThe technician is directly supervised by the Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor. The technician must also be able to work with drivers, dispatchers, service workers, and outside vendors.Working ConditionsShop and outdoors environment This position will be subject to regular and, at times, sustained performance of moderately physically demanding work, including, heavy lifting (up to 150 pounds), climbing, bending, stooping, standing, high noise levels, and vehicle fumes. This position works both inside and outside with exposure to adverse conditions and at times extreme temperatures.Knowledge/ExperienceHigh School Diploma or equivalentClass B CDL Will provide training to get CDL if neededKnowledge of DOT regulationsTraining in diesel engine repair and automotive engine repairTraining in the diagnosis and repair of vehicle systemsCapable of using all test equipment and toolsSkills/AbilitiesThe technician should have the following skills/abilities, among others:Communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, in the English languageDemonstrate regular and consistent attendance and punctualityWear the proper uniform as determined by the DistrictManage multiple projectsDevelop sound judgment and decision-making skillsAssimilate information quickly and accuratelyPrioritize tasks and manage time effectivelyDevelop the ability to work independentlyMust have a working vehicle to travel within the service areaMust work extended hours, including on-call, as neededAble to lift heavy items up to 150 poundsCompensation details: 28-38 Hourly WagePI6cf53fe3dc2c-31181-#######1.
