Job Description:
The Prevention Coordinator is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing community-based substance use and other risky behavior prevention programming using the Strategic Prevention Framework. Prevention staff will be responsible for developing training plans for communities and implementing the prevention department's strategic plan that includes coalition development.This is a Full-time, benefit-eligible position, specifically serving Chariton County.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - JOB SPECIFICAssist organizations, agencies, community coalitions, and other groups to conduct, analyze, and identify the risk and protective factors for substance abuse and other risky behaviors.Assist communities to identify weaknesses and gaps in services, programs, and activities that promote substance abuse and risky behaviors from the community assessment.Assist organizations, agencies, community coalitions, and other groups to identify capacity building strategies; develop an effective capacity building plan.Assist organizations, agencies, community coalitions, and other groups to develop and implement effective infrastructure to support their mission and vision statements and work efforts.Assist organizations, agencies, community coalitions, and other groups to develop a comprehensive strategic plan that addresses the identified risk and protective factors through effective programming, services, and activities that are evidence-based.Assist coalitions in developing a coalition strategic plan to aid in accomplishing its goals and objectives for prevention.Assist coalitions in the implementation of programs, services, and activities through training, technical assistance, and timeline development for implementation.Assist coalitions to develop an effective evaluation plan for process evaluation and program, services, and activities evaluation to determine the effectiveness of coalition efforts.Assist coalitions to make changes to strategic plans and programs, services, and activities to achieve desired outcomes.Work primarily in the community to network and establish prevention coalitions to address identified community issues; driving is an essential function of this position.Assist coalitions to pursue and apply for funding opportunities.Assist the agency in increasing the prevention department budget, staffing, and good standing in the community.Assist daily operations of the prevention department through continuity of work efforts, working as a team member in the department and agency, and promoting positive working relationships.Conduct trainings and educational workshops for community groups on community issues, the Strategic Prevention Framework, and Risk and Protective Factors.Prepare reports for the department, agency, coalitions, and state to report activities, funding opportunities, trainings, education, and ideas for future prevention activities.Other duties as assigned.Minimum Requirements:Bachelor's Degree or a minimum of two years of prevention or community development experience required.WORK EXPERIENCE/TRAINING/ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTSA valid driver's license and agency established minimum automobile coverage required.LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: Missouri Prevention Specialist Certification within six (6) months of hire date.Compass Health Network is a nonprofit health care organization offering accessible, comprehensive, and compassionate behavioral health, substance use treatment, family medicine, and dental services throughout Missouri.
